When you use Sakina, we collect information to provide you with a personalized and meaningful matchmaking experience. This includes:
Profile Information

Conversation Data
- • Messages exchanged with Sakina AI during onboarding
- • Messages sent to other users through our platform

- • Usage patterns and feature interactions
Building Your Profile in ChatGPT
You can start your Sakina Marriage Profile inside ChatGPT, before you have a Sakina account.
What we keep
We keep your answers to the profile questions in your own words, and the organised version of them, including what you tell us about your family, your work and where you're from, for 30 days, unless you bring them to Sakina or delete them first. Your answers are saved as you go. If you stop part-way, the answers you've given so far are kept for 30 days unless you delete them. We don't keep the rest of your ChatGPT conversation, and we don't ask for your name or contact details at this stage.
How we organise your answers
We use an AI service provider (Google, with OpenRouter as a fallback; the same providers Sakina uses when you build your profile in the app) to organise your answers into your profile, for example turning "in a year or so" into a timeline. Each time we organise new answers, we send your earlier answers to the AI provider again, for context.
How it's linked to you
Your profile is tied to a private ID that sits in your ChatGPT conversation. Anyone with access to that conversation could use it to view or change your profile, so treat that conversation as private. Your use of ChatGPT is also covered by OpenAI's own privacy policy.
Bringing it to Sakina
Nothing is sent to your Sakina account until you see exactly what will be shared and say yes. What goes to your Sakina account is the organised answers you approved. Your free-text answers go as you wrote them. We then give you a link that works once and expires after 10 minutes. When you sign in, the answers you approved become part of your Sakina profile and are treated like any other profile information under this policy. You can change any of them by telling Sakina. Once you bring your profile to Sakina, we delete all the answers we kept for ChatGPT, both your own words and the organised answers. After that, the ChatGPT chat can no longer show or change your profile.
If you're under 18, or a safety concern comes up
If you tell us you are under 18, or a similar safety situation comes up, we keep nothing but that fact.
How long we keep it
If you never bring your profile to Sakina, we delete it automatically 30 days after you started it. You can delete it sooner at any time by asking in ChatGPT. If you bring it to Sakina, the answers we kept for ChatGPT are deleted straight away.

Limited sharing: We may share data with trusted service providers who help us operate our platform (hosting, analytics, customer support), but only under strict confidentiality agreements and only for the purpose of providing our services.
Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your personal data. Here are your rights:

Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as necessary:
- •Active accounts: Profile data is retained while your account is active.
- •Deleted accounts: After account deletion, we remove your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).
- •Inactive accounts: Accounts inactive for 24 months may be automatically deleted after notification.
- •Analytics data: Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely for service improvement.
International Data Transfers
Sakina operates globally, and your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:
- • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by relevant authorities
- • Data processing agreements with all third-party providers
- • Compliance with GDPR for EU users and applicable local privacy laws
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of material changes through:

- • Prominent notice within the Sakina app
- • Updated "Last modified" date at the top of this page
